BREAKING NEWS: Rio Ferdinand informs Axel Disasi that if Thiago Silva stays, he may lose his position at Chelsea.
Due to defensive injuries, Disasi has made 22 appearances for Chelsea since joining the team for £38.5 million from Monaco last summer. Under Mauricio Pochettino, he has played at both center back and right back.
Since Thiago Silva’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, his future at Chelsea is still up in the air.
The Brazilian is still one of Chelsea’s best players, and Ferdinand believes that if he stays at Stamford Bridge for another season, he should play with Levi Colwill, who has mostly played left-back this year.
When questioned about Disasi’s debut at Chelsea, Ferdinand stated on Vibe With Five, “I don’t think he gets to play.”
“I would play Colwill left center-back and keep Thiago Silva in place for the upcoming season.”
Disasi has shown a lot of promise at Chelsea, according to Anton, Ferdinand’s brother, who played in the Premier League for West Ham, Sunderland, and QPR in addition to making over 200 appearances overall.
According to Anton Ferdinand, Diasi was an excellent and combative defender who frequently had to make last-ditch challenges because he was in the wrong place or something went wrong elsewhere. He was compared to Kolo Toure in this regard.
“I believe that Disasi is aggressive and front-footed, much like Kolo was at first.” I believe that has promise.
While acknowledging that Disasi has suffered as a result of Chelsea’s inconsistent play this season, Pochettino is certain that the 25-year-old will continue to advance.
Pochettino stated last week that although he is performing well, “he still has the potential to improve and we are waiting for more.”
“Playing for a team that is still developing in the Premier League is not an easy task.” In that scenario, the defensive players always have a little bit more difficulty than the offensive players.
We are pleased that he is able to play center back and, in the event of an injury, switch to right back, as he did with Reece James and Malo Gusto. We were somewhat fortunate that he was a guy we knew, since there’s a chance that a different coach and coaching staff would not have been aware of his right-back ability.
He participated in a match against us with Monaco while we were at Paris Saint-Germain. He was on the defensive end and faced up against Kylian Mbappe. He demonstrated his ability to play right back, but he is really a center defender who, in my opinion, can play on either side.
His adaption has been excellent, which makes us really happy. It is understandable that he struggled a little at first, but he is a player with room to grow.
