Japan defeated Vietnam 4-2 to begin their Asian Cup campaign with a stunning victory, but the game left Celtic fans a little let down.
Two of Celtic’s most important players, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate, were benched the whole game despite the joyous atmosphere surrounding Japan’s victory.
The Group D match, played at Al Thumama Stadium, featured a lot of goals, particularly in the first half. Takumi Minamino, the hero of Japan, was in incredible form as he scored twice to give his country a much-needed victory. But the Celtic supporters felt the loss of Maeda and Hatate more than anyone else on the field.

Without these two key players, Celtic will now have to manage their remaining encounters until Japan’s involvement in the competition comes to a conclusion. Celtic supporters are irritated because it appears that Maeda and Hatate may spend more time on the sidelines than in the game, which begs the issue of how Celtic will perform without them in the meantime.Celtic Frustrations After Japan Opener - Opinion | Latest Celtic News

Celtic’s recent success has been greatly attributed to Maeda, who is renowned for his quick reflexes and eye for goal, and Hatate, who is praised for his adaptability and technical abilities. Their absence, without meaningful game time at the Asian Cup would feel like a waste of their skills when they could be back in Glasgow competing.

The difficulties clubs encounter in international competitions are highlighted by this circumstance. While it’s a great honor for players to represent their country, it will be annoying if you’re not getting enough playing time.
It is hoped that Maeda and Hatate will get the opportunity to represent their country with pride while also returning to Celtic in good health and prepared to help the team reach its goals.

Fans of Celtic are especially eager to watch their heroes play, and all eyes will be on Japan as they move forward in the Asian Cup.
