BREAKING NEWS: Sources: Celtic plan to add three more players in a spectacular January blitz once Nicolas Kuhn finishes his medical.
According to sources that spoke with Football Insider, Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtics, still has money to spend in the January transfer window.
On Friday, January 12, Football Insider reported that the signing of Nicolas Kuhn, a winger for Rapid Vienna, by the Hoops was a “done deal.”
The 24-year-old has reportedly traveled to the UK for a medical check-up with Celtic, but it’s unlikely that Kuhn will be the last person to leave Parkhead this month, despite several reports to the contrary.
With current number one Joe Hart’s contract expiring at the end of the 2023–24 season, Celtic are still in the market for a goalkeeper.
That transaction, though, might have to wait until the summer window.
This month, Rodgers’ team also plans to add a new left-back and forward as they aim for another Scottish Premiership victory.
While Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeon-gyu Oh are the only out-and-out strikers on Celtic’s roster, a forward is on the radar. The club’s recruitment staff wrapped up a deal for Kuhn, who plays on the right wing for Austrian giants Rapid Vienna. Greg Taylor, 26, has started every Scottish Premiership game for Celtic this season at left-back. Alexandro Bernabei was signed as a backup in 2022 but has yet to make an impression at Parkhead in just 12 starts for the team.
Rodgers’ side sit top of the Scottish Premiership with 54 points – eight more than bitter rivals Rangers. The Hoops, who have been eliminated from European football this season, face Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup on Sunday (21 January) before taking on Ross County on 27 January. In other news, Serie A club granted permission to speak to Celtic star.
