GOOD NEWS: Wide Receivers for the Detroit Lions Receive High PFF Grades Against the Rams
The Detroit Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-23 on Sunday to advance to the Wild Card round and earn the chance to host another playoff game at Ford Field. They will now watch the outcome of Monday’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pro Football Focus gave linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown the highest grades for the game on Sunday. Reeves-Maybin nearly missed a diving interception in the red zone, while St. Brown finished with 110 yards on seven receptions.
Jared Goff, the quarterback, was a major factor in the team’s win as he dominated the first few minutes of play. From the first drive, he demonstrated his mastery of the game by completing his first 11 passes and concluding the first half 16 of 18 for 194 yards and a touchdown. He ultimately went 22-for-27 for 277 yards and a touchdown at the end of the game. In the fourth quarter, he finished the game with two crucial first down passes while playing without making any mistakes.

He was able to take three kneel-downs as a result, solidifying his previous team’s defeat. Aidan Hutchinson was instrumental in applying pressure to Matthew Stafford on defense. The second-year pass-rusher recorded two sacks and nine total pressures in his final performance. After playing despite illness, the Michigan product gave a vindicatory showing.
