Joel Embiid converses with Nikola Jokic
On Tuesday night, Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic faced off in a thrilling regular-season game between the Philadelphia 76ers of Embiid and the Denver Nuggets of Jokic. Embiid led his Sixers to a 126-121 victory over Jokic’s Nuggets, scoring 41 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists. The reigning NBA Finals MVP, Nikola Jokic, finished with 25 points and 19 rebounds.
Even though the media and supporters frequently set the two against one another, Embiid and Jokic showed respect for one another by embracing following the game. Embiid spoke into Jokic’s ear and imparted a message as well.
Embiid disclosed what he told Jokic in an interview with Allie LaForce.
Embiid stated, “I just told [Jokic] he’s the best player in the NBA.” He won the title, as I already mentioned. He is the MVP of the Finals, and [The Nuggets] are the best team in the league. I was just asking him to keep going, to keep doing what he was doing, and to see me in two weeks. You are the best in the league because of this.
There hasn’t been a postseason matchup between the two centers because the Sixers and Nuggets play in different conferences and have never faced off in the Finals. However, Embiid’s head-to-head record versus Jokic in the regular season is now 6-2.
The previous season, Embiid dethroned Jokic as the league MVP. He also wants to become the next NBA champion to dethrone Jokic.
