Browns Land Andy Dickerson To Fill Offensive Line Coach Vacancy - Sports Illustrated Cleveland Browns News, Analysis and More

The offensive staff of the Browns has been officially staffed by head coach Kevin Stefanski, who made several changes throughout the offseason.

Several reports—the first of which came from Albert Breer of MMQB—state that Cleveland is replacing Bill Callahan in the same position with Andy Dickerson, the former offensive line coach of the Seahawks. A few weeks ago, the Browns interviewed Dickerson for the position of offensive coordinator; however, Ken Dorsey was ultimately chosen.

Many conjectured that Cleveland’s chat with Dickerson was perhaps an initial discussion in advance of Callahan perhaps departing the organization to work for his son, Brian, in Tennessee. In addition, Dickerson had an interview for the offensive coordinator position with the Bengals, which Brian Callahan had left open.

Reports also said that Dickerson was connected to the Patriots, who had just fired Alex Van Pelt, the offensive coordinator for the Browns, as their offensive coordinator. In the end, Cleveland’s assistant offensive line coach Scott Peters was taken by New England to fill the position.

Dickerson has been associated with the Patriots and Cleveland during his coaching career. As an operations intern, he started his coaching career with New England in 2004 and helped the team win a Super Bowl.

After graduating from Tufts University, the man spent two years in Cleveland from 2009 to 2010, where he made his debut as an offensive line assistant. He was only a member of the Browns for those two seasons. Dickerson’s longest tenure with a single franchise was as the Rams’ assistant offensive line coach from 2012 to 2020.
