The Cowboys released wide receiver Michael Gallup to clear up $9.5 million in cap space. With Gallup gone and Tony Pollard with the Tennessee Titans, the team needs to add help quickly on offense if they want Dak Prescott to have a chance to succeed in a season Jerry Jones says he wants to go all in.
According to Tony Pauline with Sportskeeda, the Cowboys met with wide receiver Xavier Worthy at Texas’ pro day on Wednesday. Worthy impressed scouts at the pro day, even though he didn’t participate in the 40-yard dash workout that earned him fame when he broke the record at the NFL Combine this year.
Pauline said the Cowboys met with Worthy on Tuesday night:
“Worthy then looked terrific in position drills. He ran great routes, translated his track speed onto the field and caught everything thrown to him. His hands were very impressive, as Worthy consistently snatched the ball away from his frame and had no bobbles or double catches.
Worthy was with the Cowboys on Tuesday night after spending the bulk of Monday afternoon with the Bears, Texans and Patriots.”
Worthy is a popular name with top NFL offenses this offseason. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes congratulated Worthy following his 4.21 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel made sure to greet Worthy at Texas’ pro day.
The Cowboys have the No. 24 pick in April’s draft. That’s about where Worthy is expected to be selected in the draft. They could add Tyreek Hill-like speed for Dak to throw to this season.
