Would the Buffalo Sabres be interested in Dakota Joshua as a player?

As the Sabres look to add more offensive firepower, free agent Dakota Joshua could be the answer.

One important part of the Buffalo Sabres offseason will be to add more offensive firepower. A possible pending free agent they may want to look at is Dakota Joshua. The center/winger had 18 goals during the regular season and has scored three goals with four assists in just seven games of the postseason thus far, as the Vancouver Canucks continue to play on.

His cap hit is a salary of $850,000. Because of his on ice performance, he could be looking for a higher salary but would be a much more economical option than some other high profile free agents Buffalo could target. He has not made over one million per year in his career.

Besides his offensive performance, he also has maintained a physical force while with Vancouver. The four-year veteran has had at least 215 hits in the last two years. Only Connor Clifton for Buffalo had over 200 hits in the last two years.

They need to find players that are more physical and can be clutch goal scorers as they look to end the 13-year playoff drought. He had five game winning goals during the year. As soon as they are able to sign more players with a similar drive as Joshua, they could easily end their playoff drought.

During Game 1 of the Canucks series against the Edmonton Oilers, he had one goal and two assists. In addition to the scoring, he led the team with eight hits in a 5-4 victory. Joshua has19 hits in total so far during the postseason.

Only Alex Tuch had more game winning goals for Buffalo than Joshua did for Vancouver this season. If they can snag him with a contract this offseason, he would be a worthwhile addition. The Sabres need the style of play he continues to bring on the ice.
