BREAKING NEWS: NASCAR BEST DRIVER ERIK JONES HAS BEEN SUSPENDED FOR 8MONTHS DUE TO…
Legacy Motor Club’s Erik Jones will miss this weekend’s Würth 400 at Dover Motor Speedway after sustaining a back injury during a wreck at Talladega Superspeedway.
Jones was transported to a local hospital after the Geico 500, where he was released later the same evening. The No. 43 Toyota was involved in a hard wreck while running single file in a line of fellow Toyota drivers.
On Tuesday, the team announced Jones has suffered a compression fracture in a lower vertebra. The injury is similar to Alex Bowman’s fractured vertebra last year, which he suffered in a sprint car accident. Bowman missed three races due to the injury and other drivers, such as Denny Hamlin, claimed he struggled upon his return because he couldn’t fully feel his racecar.
“Erik’s long-term health is our number one priority,” Jimmie Johnson, co-owner of Legacy Motor Club, said in a statement. “It will be great to see him at the track Sunday and we intend to give him the time it takes to recover properly. I know Corey will do a great job behind the wheel for the Club. In the meantime, our thoughts are with Erik and his wife Holly – they have our total support.”
