Daniel Farke says Goodbye as he confirms that this will be his last season at Leeds United football as he…

Daniel Farke declined to discuss his own future after Leeds United’s crushing play-off final loss to Southampton at Wembley.

The former Norwich City head coach has received plenty of criticism from the Whites’ fan base in recent weeks, with many calling for him to be sacked after the narrow loss to Russell Martin’s Saints ensured they’d be spending another season in the Championship.

Farke refused to make things about him, however, stating that his full focus was on picking his player up after such a crushing blow.

“After a lost final it’s not the moment to speak about myself, it’s more just to speak about this fantastic club, our supporters and my players,” he said.

“They don’t want a manager right now who speaks about himself 20 minutes after we lost the final and gives some messages for his own future and what he will do in the next season with this club.

“It’s more to be there for them, to pick them up, to give them the experienced of an older lad who was in positions like this before.

“I haven’t lost a final here at Wembley before, but at least in comparison to Archie Gray, who never suffered a disappointment, I have at least experience of this.

“This moment is just about my players and being there for my players, not to speak about what it could be for me in the future. I’ve spoken about this topic enough I think, not today.”

Leeds finished with 90 points and were within a game of the top flight after smashing Norwich 4-0 in the semi-final, but the 47-year-old is aiming for an even better campaign next time.

“It’s important to take this disappointment, these experiences, as extra motivation to make sure that these supporters have a day when they deserve to celebrate,” he continued.

“We feel the pain, and we are deeply disappointed that we were not able to send our supporters home with something to cheer about, and that we are not back in the promised land.
