Rumor: Six-time NBA All-Star Player Could Swing Deal With The New York Knicks….
The New York Knicks had their best season in years despite how it ended. Behind Jalen Brunson, this team made it to the conference semifinals before getting bounced by the Pacers. However, there is a lot of optimism in the Big Apple. The team has cap space and plenty of assets to swing a deal. While names like Donovan Mitchell and DeMar DeRozan have been thrown around, one rumor states the team could go after Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George.
The deal would be complicated for the New York Knicks. Paul George has a player option for next season. If he declines it, he hits free agency. However, this would also limit the destinations he could go to. Not many teams have the cap space to outright sign the six-time All-NBA player. If he doesn’t want to go to one of those teams, he could request a trade while agreeing to pick up his player option. New York also wants to be aggressive in free agency as a recent report indicated.
“New York is in a position to get hyper-aggressive this offseason. Jalen Brunson is on a below-market-value contract, Bojan Bogdanovi? is on an expiring deal, and the Knicks have tons of draft capital. They might as well call around, even if some of the stars listed above aren’t even on the trade block right now.”
The New York Knicks have the salaries to match in a trade. Julius Randle is the most likely to be moved, as he can be easily replaced by others on the roster. Pair that with draft capital and some other second-tier players, and the Clippers could be enticed into a deal.
