West Ham make move to sign £4m Nottingham Forest player who has been told he can leave…
Nottingham Forest have been working on to sign the 25-year-old this summer, but the Hammers have now made a late move to hijack the deal.
According to UOL, West Ham submitted a more lucrative offer than Forest, and they are confident of securing his signature.
The goalkeeper’s contract includes a £3.4 million release clause, and he looked destined to move to City Ground. Forest agreed to trigger his release clause. West Ham now have joined late and look to hijack the deal.
While Forest still leads the race, West Ham are offering the goalkeeper a better salary package to lure him to the London Stadium.
The player is keen to move to the Premier League and is not keen on renewing the deal at Corinthians.
West Ham scouting Brazilian market
The Hammers are expected to be very busy in the summer market and as many as six to eight players could arrive.
West Ham were heavily keen to sign Brazilian defender Fabricio Bruno but the deal didn’t materialise. They are also serious about signing Brazilian defender Vitao and have enquired about his availability.
In addition, the Hammers are close to securing the signing of Brazilian striker Luis Guilherme, who is all set to move to London to undergo his medical.
Signing a new goalkeeper could be a priority for new boss Julen Lopetegui. Alphonse Areola is the first choice goalkeeper for the Hammers, but they need a long-term replacement for Lukasz Fabianski.
Given that the goalkeeper is available for a paltry fee, the Hammers have decided to join the race and lure Miguel away. It will be interesting to see how the situation pans out, but West Ham do have an edge, as they have offered a better pay package to the goalkeeper.
