Pittsburgh Pirates makes a summer transfer proposal to sign a 19-goal attacker…

The Pittsburgh Pirates have added another left-hander to their bullpen in signing Justin Bruihl to a major-league deal.

Bruihl joins the Pirates’ active roster and will be in uniform at PNC Park against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.

To make room for Bruihl on the roster, the Pirates placed Quinn Priester on the 15-day injured list (retro to June 3) with a right lat muscle injury. Ryan Borucki was transferred to the 60-day IL.

Bruihl opted out of his deal with the Cincinnati Reds after spending the season with Triple-A Louisville. While with Louisville, the soon-to-be 27-year-old made 19 appearances and posted a spotless 4-0 record with a 2.31 ERA. In 23.1 innings, he allowed 16 hits, walked 10 and struck out 24.

The native of Petaluma, Calif., spent parts of the last three seasons in the big leagues with the Dodgers and Rockies. While with Los Angeles, Bruhil owned a 3.65 ERA across 65 appearances before he was designated for assignment last July. He was claimed by Colorado, where he struggled to the tune of a 14.73 ERA in seven appearances before being outrighted to Triple-A.

He signed as a minor-league free agent with the Reds in the offseason. The Dodgers signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2017.

Priester started for the Pirates against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Sunday and allowed four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts in 4.2 innings. He’s 0-5 with a 4.83 ERA through six starts with the Pirates this season.

Borucki has been sidelined since Apr. 7 with left triceps inflammation. He posted a 5.40 ERA through five appearances prior to his injury.
