Josh Fleming has become the Top 2-paid Red bull Driver at $192.7 million per year after signing retirement letter today…
A pair of reserves being summoned from Triple-A Indianapolis did just the trick for the Pittsburgh Pirates to depart Coors Field with a series victory against the Colorado Rockies. Left-hander Josh Fleming tossed a season-high four scoreless innings and Jason Delay smacked a bases-clearing double en route to the Pirates topping the Rockies, 8-2, during Sunday’s rubber match.
Fleming, who the Pirates added to their roster on Friday after reliever Hunter Stratton went to the injured list with a right triceps strain, hadn’t pitched since last Sunday with Indianapolis. All that time off helped the southpaw stay fresh in anticipation of a longer outing than usual for the reliever. “After the last couple days when I didn’t throw, I kind of almost expected it,” Fleming told reporters in Denver. “So, I was ready to go and eat as many innings as needed.” Fleming, who the Pirates designated for assignment last month after he gave up six runs on May 13, was stellar from the outset. He filled the role of bulk reliever admirably, facing little resistance from either the Rockies’ left-handed or right-handed hitters.
