West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu made the 26-man squad for Turkiye and Albion are set to earn a few quid as a result – irrespective of whether he plays

Okay Yokuslu’s call up by Turkiye is set to bank West Brom a handy fee this summer. Albion’s midfield favourite enjoyed a strong season, playing regularly alongside Alex Mowatt under Carlos Corberan, as the Baggies reached the play-offs but came up just short in their pursuit of a return to the Premier League.

Yokuslu was first called up by Turkiye in 2015 and earned a number of caps until 2021, when he lost his place in the squad. After last season, though, the midfield general earned himself a recall and joined his compatriots in their camp in Germany. Yokuslu was an unused substitute in their opening game victory over Georgia on Tuesday and again on Saturday against Portugal.

Irrespective of whether he plays every minute for his nation hereon out or whether he makes an appearance full stop, however, Albion are set to earn. The scheme, called the Club Benefits Programme, is designed to aid clubs from around Europe who allow their players to represent their countries at various international tournaments which take place every couple of years – there’s a similar programme in place for the World Cup.
