Sunderland Sign a new Big key player form Manchester City….

Sunderland are poised to cut ties with the stopper on a temporary basis ahead of the 2024/25 season. They no longer require his services after snapping up Simon Moore following his exit from fellow Championship side Coventry Ciy

Bishop, 24, made the move to the Stadium of Light last year and has since been used as back-up behind Anthony Patterson. He has since made two first-team appearances and is under contract with the North East outfit for another two years running until June 2026.

According to the Northern Echo, he is set to link up with Wycombe Wanderers in League One to get some game time under his belt. The Chairboys finished 10th in the table in the last campaign and were 11 points off the play-offs in the end.

Bishop will benefit from getting some regular football under his belt and a switch to Wycombe Wanderers suits all parties involved.

He is at an age now where he needs to playing week in, week out, as opposed to sitting on the bench.

The former England youth international rose up through the ranks at Southend United and went on to play 39 games for their first-team as a youngster.

Manchester United then snapped him up in January 2020 and he spent three-and-a-half years with the Premier League giants.

He mainly represented the Red Devils’ Under-21’s side and never played for their senior team in a competitive game.

Bishop had a loan spell away from Old Trafford at Mansfield Town back in the 2021/22 campaign and played 53 matches in all competitions for the Stags, 46 of which came in League Two.

Sunderland have the chance to bring in some new faces over the next couple of months to bolster their ranks.

They were disappointing last term and will be hoping that their new manager Régis Le Bris can bring some stability. The ex-FC Lorient man has been picked as Michael Beale’s permanent replacement and will look to put his own stamp on things.
