Timberwolves mock trade sends valued pitcher for former All-Star OF…

The Detroit Pistons moved up 16 spots in the second round of the NBA Draft on Thursday after a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, The Athletic reported. In landing the 37th overall draft pick from the Timberwolves, the Pistons also agreed to take Duke product Wendell Moore Jr. from Minnesota.

Detroit gave up the No. 53 pick on Thursday’s second day of the draft. Moore, 22, was set to make $2.53 million next season as the Timberwolves agreed to a cost-cutting move.

Moore averaged less than a point per game in 25 contests off the bench last season and has averaged 1.1 points with 0.6 rebounds in 54 total games for Minnesota over the past two seasons. Moore was a first-round draft pick (26th overall) in the 2022 draft by the Dallas Mavericks before he was traded first to the Houston Rockets and then to the Timberwolves the day after he was selected.
