West Ham United player was injured in England Era Today against solvakia…

Last summer, having sold Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta, West Ham were linked with a plethora of forwards from all corners of the globe.

In the end, though, none arrived much to the anger of West Ham supporters who felt it was needed if the club were serious about challenging for a European place.

David Moyes said he wanted to try Jarrod Bowen out as a striker.

That particular experiment had mixed results with many feeling it made West Ham weaker, such is Bowen’s impact playing off the right.

That left Michail Antonio – who turns 35 next season – ageing flop Danny Ings and unproven young forward Divin Mubama as West Ham’s only striker options.

Many felt the situation would see Mubama in particular given a chance to show whether he could cut it at the top level for the Hammers.

The highly-rated striker has been in and around the West Ham first team for the last two seasons.

But the England youth forward would go on to make just one start for West Ham across all competitions last term and nine sub appearances.

Most of those came with little time to show what he can do as his combined total of just 187 minutes of action illustrates.

If there was ever any doubt that West Ham simply must sign a new striker this summer, it was put to bed at the weekend.
