Led by feisty offense, Yankees hope to take down Cards…

Hello everyone, and welcome to Week 14 of our weekly minor league recap. Smith Brickner, who usually so expertly authors this piece, is busy working through MLB Draft prep and his midseason top prospects list, so I’ll be pinch-hitting for this week. Without further ado, let’s go through the highlights from the week that was down on the farm.

Agustin Ramirez had the Triple-A breakout we’d been waiting for. After struggling over his first ten games at a new level, Ramirez exploded last week, smashing three home runs and running a 1.167 OPS. He’s now got 20 combined dingers between Double- and Triple-A:

Also leading the way on the hitting side was Jorbit Vivas, who put together another outstanding week, posting a 1.081 OPS with three doubles and a home run. Vivas’ overall line for the year doesn’t show much power but he’s been an on-base machine, running his OBP all the way up to .401. He ranked 13th on Smith’s midseason Yankees top prospect list.

It was another trying week for former top prospect Oswald Peraza, who hasn’t looked right all year. He went 4-for-22 with just one extra-base hit, and he’s slugging .298 on the year. Smith noted last week that Peraza appeared to be trying to sacrifice some damage on contact in exchange for more contact, and while Peraza’s power is certainly down, he’s hitting just .208 on the season.
