Leeds United and West Brom to Battle for ‘Electrifying’ £100m Forward…

Paul Robinson expects primary shirt sponsors Red Bull to change the colour of their logo on the new Leeds United away strip.

Many Leeds supporters were left unhappy when the club launched the new home kit earlier this month, featuring the Red Bull logo right in the centre.

As the energy drink conglomerate’s name would suggest, the logo is predominantly red – the colour of fierce rivals Manchester United.

However, BBC Sport pundit Robinson has pointed out Red Bull may encounter an issue when it comes to placing the logo on the away kit.

Getting Red Bull on board could be worth around £10million per year to Leeds United should they return to the Premier League [Kieran Maguire, 11 July].

That is obviously a massive benefit for Leeds’ finances, with the current sponsorship deal said to be the largest of any club in Championship history.

At the same time, the fanbase must be respected. While it may seem a minor inconvenience, supporters do not want to see red on the centre of the shirt.

This is a difficult issue to resolve as Red Bull’s logo is one of the most iconic in the world and they will not want to rebrand it.

However, their hand may be forced if made to alter it for the yellow Leeds away strip in order to make the logo stand out.
