West Brom agree Carlos Corberán Vallet deal after fending off Man City…

The Owls have begun the process to sign former West Brom, Fulham and Chelsea defensive midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah.

Available on a free transfer following his departure from the Baggies upon the expiration of his contract, Chalobah is being chased for a return to the Championship.

The one-time England international is seeking to regain form after a failed spell at The Hawthorns, an 18-month period during which he accumulated just 1,749 minutes. Before that, he struggled at Fulham as he played just 28 times. He also faced similar troubles on loan at Napoli earlier in his career.

Our sister publication, The Star, reports Chalobah is a target for manager Danny Röhl and Wednesday are hoping to fend off other clubs to acquire his services. The South Yorkshire outfit believe Hillsborough is the correct place for the midfielder to get his career back on track.

Chalobah’s best spell was arguably his second at Watford as he lived up to his £5.3 million price tag, playing 85 times and scoring four goals. If signed and able to recreat that kind of form, he would be an excellent addition for Wednesday.

He wouldn’t be the only new acquisition, either, as the Owls are aiming to bring in several more new faces to strengthen in key areas. Owner Dejphon Chansiri is rightfully supporting Röhl’s decision making after an exceptional 2023/24 campaign.

Wednesday have already brought in Charlie McNeil, Ben Hamer, Svante Ingelsson, Jamal Lowe, Max Lowe, Yan Valery and Olaf Kobacki. Even more are set to follow in through the Hillsborough doors.
