Agreement sign today: The owner of Brighton Hove announce the trading the team to….

MARSEILLE could shelve their shock transfer move for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood because talks are taking too long.

L’OM were reportedly close to signing Greenwood, 22, during the summer transfer window for a fee worth an initial £27million.

A week ago, new coach Nasreddine Nabijoined Chiefs in their pre-season camp and upped the tempo.

Now with that being done, Chiefs have announced that defender Edmilson Dove has suffered an injury. The injury was not specified by the club’s website. But they did disclose that he will be heading back to South Africa. That in itself would give the indication that it is a serious injury.

“Kaizer Chiefs’ defender Edmilson Dove has joined the Club’s injury list after he suffered an injury during Friday’s session at Amakhosi’s pre-season training camp in Türkiye. The Mozambican international has been examined by the medical team in camp. He will leave Türkiye and head back to South Africa for a full assessment and medical attention. We wish him, and the rest of the injured fellows a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing them back on the training grounds and field of play soon.”

Dove had recently seen Chiefs exercise a one-year option on his deal at the club. They had also pulled him out of the Mozambican COSAFA Cup squad, in order to be part of this tour to Turkey. With the departure of Sifiso Hlanti, it was believed that he would be playing primarily as a left-back this upcoming season. The club swiftly signed Bongani Sam, however, and that cast doubt on whether he will shift from the centre.

But SunSport understand Greenwood is taking too long to decide and the French giants have set their sights elsewhere.

Marseille are now looking at Brighton ace Simon Adingra, 22, who played under the club’s new manager Roberto De Zerbi on the south coast last season.

De Zerbi rates the winger highly and is keen on a reunion at the Velodrome this summer.

SunSport understand that Marseille have also held talks with the Ivory Coast international’s camp.
