Tottenham Hotspur have made two new signings so far this summer, but they could well look to step up their interest in targets now August is under way.
Spurs have brought England prodigy Archie Gray to N17 and also got Gangwon FC gem Yang Min-hyeok on their books, though he won’t join the Lilywhites until next year.
Tottenham have been linked with a number of forwards in recent months, with names such as Santiago Gimenez, Ivan Toney and Viktor Gyokeres doing the rounds.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have set their sights on a striker whose style of play has been likened to that of Harry Kane.
The player in question is Dominic Solanke, who has gone from strength to strength at Premier League outfit Bournemouth.
Romano said Tottenham are exploring a move for the 26-year-old, though he acknowledged this would be a difficult deal as he’s such a key player for the Cherries.
In January this year, Bournemouth legend Charlie Daniels likened Solanke, his former colleague, to Kane.
“Dom combines the role of a No 9 and a No 10, a bit like Harry does,” Daniels – who was also on the books at Spurs early in his career – told The Sun.
“He wants to stretch the game in behind but can also receive it to feet. His movement’s the same as Harry’s and they’ve the same intelligence.
“They both hold the ball up, they’re quite strong. Harry’s a more natural finisher but you can see the similarities.”
