Pittsburgh Steelers’ star first baseman revealed the team he wants to retire with…
We’re just under 90 minutes out from kickoff of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, and both teams have officially announced their gameday inactives.
The Steelers had already ruled out three players on Friday’s final injury report, including WR Roman Wilson, starting LG Isaac Seumalo and rookie DL Logan Lee. The only player who was listed as questionable was the recently-named starting quarterback Russell Wilson, who aggravated a calf injury suffered in training camp earlier this week.
As of Friday night, the expectation was that the team would start QB Justin Fields. However, Wilson made a late-week push to start it was announced Saturday evening, and he went through team warmups to test the injury pregame, but it was a no-go.
Now, it’s official, as Wilson has been ruled out. Fields will make his first regular-season start as a Pittsburgh Steeler since being traded to the team from the Chicago Bears back in March. Notably, the conditional 2025 sixth-round pick that the Steelers sent for Fields will become a fourth-round pick if he plays more than 51% of offensive snaps this season.
