It’s heartbreak for Angel Reese in her debut WNBA season as the Chicago Sky star sits on the sidelines after suffering a campaign-ending wrist injury leaving some fans to suspect it was an excuse to hide pregnancy, but is the 22-year-old actually with child?

Reese is in the race to win the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award after an excellent season following being selected as seventh overall saw her average 13.6 points per game, 13.1 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game as a forward.

But that all came to an end against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, September 6 when she suffered a wrist fracture, but the priority on her mind was reassuring her followers that she hasn’t got herself a baby dad.

“I’m not pregnant, that was never a thing,” Reese told fans on Instagram to end the rumors. “I want to make this crystal, crystal, crystal clear. I don’t have a man to have kids.

“I don’t have a [wedding] ring to have kids. I’m 22 with no kids, and I’m not coming home to kids. So that’s not gonna be a thing any time soon.”

The injury came as the Sky defeated the Sparks with the WNBA star withdrawing from the game after falling and fracturing her wrist leaving her requiring surgery to keep her career alive as well as her quality of living.

She will require a hard cast before a soft cast over a six weeks span which will count her out of the 2024 season with the Sky out of playoff contention with a .352 record and 12 wins as of the time of ex-LSU Tigers’ exit.

“Basically the doctors told me that I could either not get surgery or have surgery,” Reese told her fans on TikTok. “The risk of not having surgery – I could literally have arthritis at 22 years old. That wasn’t an option.

“The bone could literally crack and completely shatter. Right now, it’s like a hairline… They’re going to put a small screw in it. And I wasn’t going for it getting any bigger.”

Reese added: “I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next.

“Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break.”
