Louisville police are asking for help to find several people who jumped on the hood of a police car last as vehicles blocked all lanes of traffic on New Cut Road to spin donuts and burnouts at the intersection.

Traffic was brought to a halt as one car after another blocked a south Louisville intersection doing donuts and burnouts. It was one of the latest scenes in an ongoing trend on the city’s streets.

“There was a high, high potential on Saturday night for someone to be seriously injured,” LMPD Interim Chief Paul Humphrey said. “Fortunately, that’s not what happened. We are not going to tolerate that type of behavior. You are not going to put officers from LMPD in danger. You’re not going to put the public in danger, plain and simple.”

On Friday, Gualbar Leonel Zerqura Castro, 24, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and rioting, both felonies, in connection to the incident.

“Castro was captured on body-cam and surveillance footage jumping on a police car causing felony damage to the cruiser the taxpayers pay for,” LMPD said in a social media post. “After our release of the body-cam pictures to the media, the tips came rolling in, quickly identifying this suspect. It’s clear to us that the community will not tolerate this behavior.”

On Monday, LMPD released more pictures as it further investigates the incident.
