The magnitude of the Green Bay Packers’ season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles remains to be seen.

Packers franchise quarterback Jordan Love suffered an apparent leg injury on the final drive of a 34-29 loss Friday night in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

He will undergo tests on his knee when the team lands from Brazil, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday. Initial tests indicated Love’s ACL is intact, but there’s still a wide range of outcomes, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero added.

Head coach Matt LaFleur had no update after the game, saying, “I don’t know,” twice when asked about Love’s status.

Love was high-lowed by two Eagles defenders when trying to extend a 1st-and-10 play from the Packers’ 49-yard line. He lateralled to running back Josh Jacobs just before he was hit. Love remained on the field receiving medical attention before he limped off with help.

Love, who was 17 of 34 for 260 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the game, was seen walking to the locker room after the game, but was helped then, as well.

Backup Malik Willis, acquired via trade with the Tennessee Titans less than two weeks ago, took over for the final two plays of the game. He threw an incompletion and was then sacked to end the game.

The 25-year-old Love, a 2020 NFL Draft first-round pick, came on late in 2023 to lead Green Bay to a playoff berth and an upset win over the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback’s improved play led to a massive contract extension and just as large aspirations for the 2024 Packers.

Now, Green Bay and its fans will hold their collective breath waiting for an update on Love.
