The Gunners dug in deep to beat their nearest rivals away from home, and they did so while fielding a depleted squad.
Indeed, with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard out of action due to suspension and injury respectively, Arsenal had to put together something of a makeshift midfield.
However, through hard work, grit and determination, the Gunners still managed to win this game.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has been discussing the Arsenal midfield and how hard they worked, and he noted that Jorginho looked to be absolutely exhausted by the end of the game after putting in a serious shift.
Sherwood spoke about the £12m man and his performance against Tottenham.
“They did it, they did the job with players who have had very little football, Jorginho was out on his feet, but he gave everything, he was wearing the armband and playing for the shirt, it’s like he’s been there for 10 years,” Sherwood said.
Jorginho left it all out there on the pitch on Sunday, and as Sherwood says, the Italian was playing for the shirt and captaining the side brilliantly.
Many may have expected Jorginho to coast a bit at Arsenal. After all, he joined the Gunners in the latter stages of his career and he was a Chelsea legend.
However, he’s taken to life at Arsenal brilliantly, and he’s willing to give his all for this club in massive derby games like this.
Declan Rice’s suspension forced Mikel Arteta to tear up his midfield plans for this Tottenham game, but Jorginho put in a performance that his manager will have been very impressed by.
Jorginho played a massive part in Arsenal’s win against Spurs at the weekend.
