If the New Orleans Saints are going to get a big win against the rival Atlanta Falcons this weekend, they’ll have to do it without a few more of their top players.
After placing center McCoErik y on injured reserve earlier this week, coach Dennis Allen said the Saints will also rule out linebacker Demario Davis (hamstring) and right guard Cesar Ruiz (knee).
This will be the first game Davis has missed because of injury in his 13-year career (though Davis was one of many to miss a 2021 loss to Miami because of a positive COVID-19 test).
“We’re not going to put anybody out there that we feel we’re putting at risk of injuring themselves,” coach Dennis Allen said. “… You’re always just looking at what is the proper thing to do, what is the right thing to do, for the player and the team.”
