Drake’s “6 Man” is about the 37-year-old former NBA player, who became the franchise’s first Sixth Man of the Year. It made perfect sense for Drake to give him a shoutout. But mentioning his two girlfriends wasn’t probably the right idea.
The Canadian rapper revealed William’s personal love life, which possibly ended up costing the NBA star a potential million-dollar deal. At least the Raptors star believes so a “1000%.”
After an impressive 2014-15 season with Williams, the Raptors didn’t re-sign their Sixth Man. In the latest episode of Underground Lounge, Williams shared that there were rumors suggesting the Raptors didn’t offer him a deal due to his reputation. “The word was they didn’t resign me back to Toronto because of my lifestyle. They said I was bad influence,” Williams said.
When asked if it was the song that let the news out about him having two girlfriends, Williams was quick to say yes. The lyrics go, “6 Man like Lou Will, 2 girls and they get along like I’m (Lou)…”
It wasn’t just the Raptors. Social media blew up when they learned that both of Williams’ girlfriends knew about each other and were fine with it. Later, in an interview, the 3-time Sixth Man of the Year opened up about the situation.

Netizens were initially skeptical because the rumor seemed strange. It was said that Williams was dating both Ashley Henderson and Rece Mitchell, both of whom had children with him. This led to even more outlandish rumors.
In a conversation with Taylor Rooks for Bleacher Report, Williams clarified that if he had the chance, he would have chosen a better way to share his story with the public.
“People even thought they were sisters, I was like, ‘That’s ridiculous.’ I didn’t like the part where I couldn’t control what was being said and how they were viewed. Both of those women are mothers of my children, not just some random girls I’m running around with,” Williams said.
Williams’ departure from the Raptors was quite shocking, especially considering how well he had been performing. With him, the team ranked first in the Eastern Conference. The team boasted an offensive rating of 110.8 and a net rating of 19.6, its best. Later, Williams joined the Lakers, but the Raptors might have achieved even greater success had they retained him.
