Michael Jordan is about to part with one of his most prized possessions… after 12 years of trying. The former Chicago Bulls star has finally found a buyer for the fabulous mansion that was his family home for most of his NBA career.
The mansion is located in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, and was the home of the Jordan family from 1995 until 2012, when the six-time NBA champion decided to put it up for sale.
The price tag at the time was $29 million. However, just a handful of buyers have that kind of money in their pockets, and the majestic mansion remained unbidden for a long time.
According to TMZ, Jordan has already found a buyer for the house, although at almost half of its original value. The new price is $14,855,000, yet the deal is listed as “contingent,” meaning one or both parties still have to meet several conditions to close the deal.
The 56,000-square-foot mansion sits on seven acres of land. Jordan bought it at the height of his career and remodeled it to his liking. Visitors are initially greeted by a large golden gate adorned with the iconic number 23.
The estate features a full-size basketball court, a circular infinity pool, and a tennis court. The main house has nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, five fireplaces, a cigar room, a library, and an indoor gym.
The buyer’s name remains unknown, but they undoubtedly got a bargain and one of Michael Jordan’s greatest treasures. The Chicago Bulls great may not miss it as much since he also has homes fit for a king in North Carolina and Florida.
