For my fellow Ottawa area/Eastern Ontario chasers…I am looking at changing it up (location-wise) as I am less impressed with trying to catch the lights along the river in Shirley’s Bay/Constance bay, etc and haven’t found any good spots in the Carp area, unfortunately (lots of trees blocking every time I find a quiet road to stop along).
So instead of going NorthWest tonight (and the following nights) like I usually do, I’m debating going to Lanark County, Osgoode/Kars, or maybe Perth? I’ve looked at the light pollution map and Lanark county in general seems to be a darker area. I don’t want to drive too much further than that. Any good areas near Perth? I grew up at a cottage on the Mississippi Lake close to Perth (it’s not longer ours) but it’s a long dark, winding road to get there and private access to the lake only so I wouldn’t even know where to go around there.
Any of my Ottawa area peeps have any luck South west of the city, such as Perth or further west? Not looking for exact locations, just general area. I have heard Middleville is a good area to check, but don’t know the town well at all.
Good luck with catching the lights everyone…can’t wait to see everyone’s pics.
Here’s a pic of the lights I caught near Constance Bay (June/2024) so my post doesn’t get lost. It’s nice to see the lights on the water, but I really want to do something different (field, farm, etc) for variety Any advice is much appreciated!
