Yankees making rare changes to iconic road jerseys for 2024 season
The Yankees’ uniforms, which are renowned for their timeless design and little alterations, have undergone two minor changes recently: in 2020, the Nike swoosh was added to the jerseys’ chest, and in 2023, a Starr Insurance patch was added to the sleeves.
According to Uni Watch, in 2016 they also reduced the distance between “NEW” and “YORK” on their road jerseys.
The Yankees will have to wait long to unveil the new look as they take on the Astros on the road at Minute Maid Park on March 28 to start the season.
The Yankees have mostly remained the same over the years, in contrast to other organizations that have experienced their fair share of uniform changes.
The Yankees have only ever worn their home and road uniforms, although the majority other teams have at least one alternate jersey.
The only time in recent years they have worn something else during the regular season was for the MLB Players Weekend from 2017-19 and when they wore throwbacks — essentially what the tweaked uniforms will look like — for the “Field of Dreams” game in 2021.
