In a wild eight-player, two-draft pick trade proposal, Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report put together a team that would send Dennis Schroder, a former point guard for the Boston Celtics, to the Atlanta Hawks along with Pascal Siakam and Max Christie. In exchange, the Los Angeles Lakers would receive D’Angelo Russell, De’Andre Hunter, Taurean Prince, a top-10 protected 2029 first-round pick from Los Angeles, and a 2029 first-round pick from Atlanta to the Toronto Raptors. Dejounte Murray and Garrett Temple would finally go to Los Angeles.
Bailey offered, “Dennis Schröder gives them a solid backup point guard behind Young,” and went on, “Having him instead of Murray makes it easier to plug Bogdan Bogdanović into the starting five too.” The Hawks get at least a slight advantage on the wing from Max Christie.”
In addition to drastically changing the Raptors’ roster with the OG Anunoby trade with the Knicks, such a move would provide the Lakers another triple-double threat in the backcourt in Murray, who may help them with a lot of their present perimeter defense issues.

Dennis Schroder’s last stint as a backup came in the 2021–2022 Boston season (as well as 15 games with the Houston Rockets) before to the Anunoby deal, which sent Immanuel Quickley to Toronto as Toronto’s starting point guard. But now, under Bailey’s suggestion, Schroder would take on that responsibility once more.
It remains to be seen what the Raptors do going forward, but given that they may have improved with the signing of RJ Barrett and Quickley, there is little reason to believe a rebuild is imminent. Schroder might be the kind of seasoned player Darko Rajaković uses off the pine in pivotal situations, or he might be a salary-matching piece in a later deal.
In either case, whoever team he joins beyond the February 8 trade deadline will benefit from momentum from one of his best statistical seasons.
