The Las Vegas Raiders (-3) have been Aggressively retaining their core players…

The Las Vegas Raiders are far from favorites in a stacked AFC West populated by the Chiefs and Chargers, but Antonio Pierce’s team does have the makings of a potential spoiler in the division. Last season, former Notre Dame star Michael Mayer flashed his potential as a talented receiving and blocking tight end.

Now, the Raiders are setting their wheels in motion to improve upon their 2023-2024 record of eight wins and nine losses.

Mayer’s warning came during a truthful admission by Raiders QB Aidan O’Connell about his limitations as the leader of the team’s offense. A Raiders rookie endeared himself to the team’s fanbase with an epic quote.

Mayer and rookie Brock Bowers could form one of the most potent TE1-TE2 tandems in the National Football League, as shared in the form of his recent comments.

“I think we’re gonna be dangerous,” Mayer said. “I think we’re gonna have a great offense.”

Last season, the Fighting Irish alumnus Mayer put up 27 receptions for 304 yards and two touchdowns, a solid but unspectacular performance which ranked fourth on Coach Antonio Pierce’s team.

Mayer was a third-team All-American in his final season in South Bend, Ind. for the Irish, and now faces expectations that are almost certain to rise this offseason. With Bowers arriving, the duo could become one of the best in the NFL, but a lot depends on O’Connell and the offense.

Josh Jacobs is not longer present in Sin City leaving third-year man Zamir White as the starter at running back. The Raiders have an intriguing mix of youth and talent at the offensive skill positions, but it all depends on O’Connell. If he can get the ball to the right players at the right times, the Raiders’ offense could live up to Mayer’s prediction. If not, a struggle could result, along with calls for a change at the QB position in favor of someone who can maximize the considerable talents of Vegas’ myriad offensive talents.
