An update from Fabrizio Romano and his staff stated that AC Milan had a plan to move for Charlie Cresswell, a defender for Leeds United, before the transfer deadline.
The Serie A powerhouses had considered the 21-year-old as one of two possible center-back choices, with an alternative in Ligue 1, according to a live update on the Italian’s Kick broadcast on February 1. However, it is unlikely that they would make a signing on Deadline Day.

Due to a January standoff with Daniel Farke over playing time, the Englishman was speculated to be leaving the Championship; however, the Whites were not ready to bolster a rival for promotion, and the manager has since welcomed him back.
Cresswell’s season has been extremely difficult because, since returning from a breakout loan spell at Millwall last season, Farke has given him very few opportunities.
Leeds United would have likely been pleased to accept Milan’s offer if it had been made earlier since it would have prevented the highly-regarded young player from ending up in the hands of league rivals.
With Pascal Struijk sidelined due to injury, the Whites would have been shorthanded at center defense if he had departed. Given how tough it has been to sign players in January, it seems the manager chose to deal with the unsatisfied defender and reopen the door in the lack of other options.
The chance for Cresswell to secure a significant transfer to the San Siro is undoubtedly gone as the Italian window closes at 7 p.m. UK time.
