West Bromwich Sign a new Head coach from Nottingham Forest…

West Bromwich Albion are reportedly set to receive a surprise bid from Turkish side Trabzonspor for star midfielder Okay Yokuşlu.

The Baggies failing to achieve promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs could be enough for Yokuşlu to jump ship, or at least that’s what being claimed in his home nation.

Turkish outlet reports Trabzonspor are “planning another meeting with Yokuşlu” following talks with the midfielder’s representatives midway through the season. It’s said Trabzonspor, who finished third in the Süper Lig behind Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe last term, are considering making an offer.

With 44 Championship appearances totalling 3,245 minutes throughout 2023/24, Yokuşlu is undoubtedly one of Albion’s most important assets. There’s nobody else quite like him in the Baggies setup, as proved by Nathaniel Chalobah and Yann M’Vila failing to make the desired impact when standing in for Yokuşlu at the base of midfield.

West Brom will have a huge decision to make if a bid lands as sales must be made this summer to allow new signings for Carlos Corberan. The Spanish head coach is reluctant to let key players go but a significant enough wad of cash could prove tempting, especially as Yokuşlu’s contract expires next summer.

Since signing in July 2022 from Celta Vigo on a free transfer, Yokuşlu has played 105 times for West Brom, scoring five and making two assists over that period. The 30-year-old appears to be enjoying life at The Hawthorns but his ambitions to get back in the Turkey national team could rest on his next career call.

Transferring to Trabzonspor, the club he played 106 times for between 2015 and 2018, could provide the necessary platform. The Black Sea Storm will be competing in next season’s UEFA Europa League, Europe’s second most elite club competition.
