Leeds United sold Archie Gray to Tottenham for a reported £40million fee this week, but it’s a deal that hasn’t gone down well amongst fans and potentially not within his family too.

Daniel Farke’s side missed out on promotion in heartbreaking fashion as they lost in the playoff final to Southampton, and it was inevitable that sacrifices would have to be made this summer because of it.

There was optimism amongst fans, though, that Archie Gray would be the one player the club didn’t let leave due to his ties here and the sheer talent that is yet to be fully realised in midfield.

Leeds looked under serious pressure to sell Gray this summer, and when Brentford and then Tottenham pursued a £40million agreement, it became abundantly clear he was to be sold.
