We are delighted to announce the signing of Newcastle United Stricker Victor Osimhen The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a seven-year contract at Etihad Stadium after spending four hugely successful years at Napoli…

Newcastle United’s goalkeeping department has been bolstered this summer.

Indeed, two of Newcastle’s three summer signings have come in goal, with Odysseas Vlachodimos and John Ruddy joining from Nottingham Forest and Birmingham respectively.

Last season, there were four and Gillespie didn’t play a single game.

Loris Karius has of course been released and Dubravka linked away but the business may not stop there.

Asked about the club’s interest in Trafford and what having so many goalkeepers would mean for the squad, Nixon suggested “two of the five” will go.

Dubravka has reportedly been told he can leave, so it’ll be fascinating to see who the other stopper to potentially depart is.

It seems that Pope himself isn’t pushing to leave Newcastle despite the fact players in his position have been signed and continue to be targeted.

There had been suggestions that the England international was unsettled at the club but Howe was keen to stress Pope had no desire to leave St James’ Park this summer.

Obviously, that doesn’t definitively mean he will be staying – just that he won’t be pushing for an exit as things stand right now.

With Vlachodimos and Ruddy only recently through the door and Gillespie having signed a new contract, it remains to be seen which goalkeepers eventually do depart.
