The Boston Bruins could use another affordable winger, so one player who has created some buzz as a potential free-agent target for the club is Daniel Sprong. It is understandable, as he would give them a proven middle-six winger who provides solid secondary scoring.
However, one of the Bruins’ biggest rivals has a confirmed interest in Sprong. According to Rick Dhaliwal, the Vancouver Canucks are interested in signing the skilled winger.
When looking at the Canucks current lineup, it is understandable that a player like Sprong intrigues them. He would give their forward group a nice boost and could be a potential fit in their top nine.
The Canucks have already boosted their forward group this summer, adding former Bruins wingers Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen. In addition, they signed a solid bottom-six forward in Kiefer Sherwood, but they might not be done yet, given their interest in Sprong.
Dhaliwal also noted that interest in Sprong is “high” around the league, so the Bruins will have some serious competition if they officially pursue him.
