Today, september 8, would have been late AC/DC’s singer Bon Scott’s seventy-fifth birthday. The iconic voice behind some of the band’s, and hard rock’s most enduring anthems — “Highway To Hell,” “Whole Lotta Rosie,” “T.N.T.,” “It’s A Long Way To The Top,” “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” and countless more — passed February, 19, 1980.
But, 41 years later, he remains one of the most revered vocalists in the annals of rock, so much so that in 2004 Classic Rock Magazine named him the greatest frontman of all time, over the likes of Freddie Mercury, Robert Plant and literally every other lead singer in the history of rock.
So Scott’s legacy as a true rock icon is undisputed. But his family wants to ensure that remains the case for future generations with the first ever official Bon Scott website (bonscottofficial.com), launched today in commemoration of the milestone birthday
“On the occasion of what would have been his seventy-fifth birthday, the Bon Scott estate (Bon’s two brothers and his nephew) are proud to launch the new website and take this important step toward elevating Bon’s legend and tending to his legacy,” the estate said in a press release announcing the site. “Bon was a unique singer, songwriter and character that the world should never forget.”
The new site will not only chronicle his days with AC/DC, but his early bands, such as Valentines, Spektors and Fraternity, offering fans a much more in-depth look at Scott’s rise from a Little Richard-inspired up and comer to a Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer.
Additionally, the site will have new merchandise for sale and allow fans to share their Scott stories, whether seeing him or meeting him. And most interestingly that testimonial section will also include tributes from a wide range of rockers, from Steve Perry to Rob Halford.
