Stern paid tribute to longtime caller Angry Alice with a heartfelt message on his show on Wednesday.
Alice Gotti, who was also known to listeners as Crazy Alice, was known for ranting and raving throughout her time as a member of the Howard Stern Show’s Wack Pack.
“I was sad when I heard about this,” Stern said on the September 4 show.
“One of our Wack Pack has died.”
The Wack Pack refers to the personalities that regularly appear on The Howard Stern Show. The list of members became official in 2015.
Stern asked his guest to guess how old Alice was before revealing that she died at age 72.
Fans of the radio show are remembering Alice as the “funniest radio caller of all time” with tributes on social media.
“I was told Crazy Alice died. She was a lot of fun,” one X user wrote before remembering one of her infamous curse-filled insults.
“She was great. RIP Alice,” another shared.
“Everyone beat me to ‘Hi Fred’ comment.
“I loved it when she would be in an off the walls, curse filled rant then just calmly say ‘Hi Fred’. Just classic.
“She is most likely yelling at St. Peter right now.”
“We lost another legend. R.I.P. Angry Alice. Tomorrow I’ll pour a little out for ya. God bless and bye for now,” a third fan shared.
“I loved Angry Alice. Especially the time she called Howard a beat up witch. Still makes me laugh to this day. RIP Alice,” one wrote on Reddit.
Alice first called into the show in 1997.
In his tribute, Stern remembered her as “angry at the world.”
“She told us her anger felt like having an upset stomach – it just needed to come out.”
Stern then played a montage of some of Alice’s “angriest moments,” which was filled with raunchy insults and obscenities.
“We say rest in peace, Angry Alice,” Stern said.
