Ozzy Osbourne has been plagued with a number of health problems in the last several years, and it’s hindered him from performing live. Now, it’s hindering the 75-year-old from traveling at all.
The former Black Sabbath frontman was supposed to attend the Mad Monster Party film convention in Arizona next month with his wife Sharon and daughter Kelly; however, his doctor has ordered him not to make the trek to America. Sharon shared the disappointing news in a video statement posted to Facebook.
“Regretfully, the Osbourne family have to cancel our upcoming appearance at the Mad Monster Party in Phoenix because Ozzy is unable to travel at this time,” she said before adding that Jack will be there “flying the flag for the Osbournes.”
She also thanked fans for their “constant support” of Ozzy. “It means so much to him, you have no idea,” Sharon said. “And all I can do is apologize that we won’t be there and I’m apologizing for people we’ve let down from my heart. So God bless you all. Thank you so much.”
“These kinds of posts are no fun but I hope the fans will understand,” Convention All-Stars owner Sean Clark wrote in the post. “Ozzy really, really wanted to attend Mad Monster Party in AZ next month but unfortunately his doctor said he has to sit this one out.
“Let’s all wish Ozzy the best and a speedy recovery. Also Jack will be bringing pre-signed items to be sold at the show for those wanting to get something signed by Ozzy or the family.”
Despite the setbacks, Ozzy is still determined to perform again. Ozzy was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist. The induction ceremony is set to take place on October 19, and when asked if there was a chance of him performing the Prince of Darkness teased, “You never know.”
His Black Sabbath bandmate Geezer Butler also recently shared his sentiment on the band reuniting for a final show, revealing that he and Ozzy had “agreed” to do it but are unsure about the other members.
